After my first pregnancy, I was really struggling to get my core strength back. As a lifelong gymnast, I never had to worry about core strength and stability, but even though I exercised during my pregnancy, I felt weak and unstable in my new postpartum body.
When I found out I was pregnant with baby # 2, I immediately knew I needed to focus more on core strength and stability while I was still pregnant. Which is when I started working with Dr. Mae.
Dr. Mae has a passion for helping moms feel capable and strong in their own bodies. After completing her undergraduate and doctorate degrees at Vanderbilt and Belmont, she began to work with female athletes in her sports residency program. There, she started to understand that pelvic floor issues are common — but so are the misconceptions about them. Now, with her doctorate in physical therapy, she is committed to educating as many women as she can about how strong they truly are.
